  • Hi, I'm Leslie. I'm a mother of three, a business woman, and a third-generation farmer girl that grew-up eating clean, healthy food raised right on the pastures of my family's grass fed beef farm.

Five Fathers Day Craft Gift Ideas

March 16, 2018

In honor of those dad’s seeking sturdiness, ruggedness, and pure guy-ness, we’ve searched and pondered over a spectrum of guy-gear products for this Father’s Day.  The never-ending quest for that perfect piece of guy-gear is not about being expensive, fussy, or fancy…as these two would attest to.  No, no, no…it’s about finding guy-gear that has the grit to see an everyday fella thru the travails of a being a modern-day suburbanite.  Those burgers don’t flip themselves, and that patio surround-sound system certainly didn’t install itself, people.  These items made the no-frippery list of guy-gear because they work, are super sturdy, and just handsome enough to pass muster at the old 9-to-5 desk job.  My advice – don’t go rogue.  Stick to the list and this Father’s Day will write itself.

5. Filson Original Briefcase

This briefcase is perfect for the rugged, outdoorsy type that has to spend his 9-to-5 behind a desk. It’s classic Filson, made of their no-frills, sturdy-as-heck twill. The briefcase comes together with saddle-grade Bridle Leather straps and handles that won’t break…like they really don’t.  It’s a guy’s briefcase that resists water and wear, perfect for that next team meeting out on the back forty.  Oh yeah, it also has a lifetime warranty.  Pretty fab.

4. Maverick Wireless Remote BBQ Thermometer

Did you know that those little analog grill thermometers are notoriously inaccurate?  Go figure.  What you and your master of the BBQ pit need is a digital remote thermometer.  Enter the Maverick Wireless Remote Thermometer.  Two probes allow for temps to be taken at two points simultaneously, a.k.a. the intermal temp of a brisket and a pork shoulder can be monitored at the same time.  And it’s all done remotely, meaning no more hovering over the grill.  Boom – accurate and freeing.  Yep, now grill masters can have their brisket and eat it too.   And, OK, this isn’t a craft product, but it sure does work.

3. Farmer Girl Meats Craft Steak Sampler

This steak gift box is all about a unique craft steak experience… paired with craft beers for their total crafty awesomeness in a gift box that Dad will love! Each box includes a mix of double-aged Ribeye, Porterhouse, and Filet Mignon steaks, aged for big flavor and optimal tenderness using age-old methods. As if that weren’t enough, each Father’s Day gift box also includes professionally recommended craft beer pairings for each steak cut, selected by the fine cicerones of the Craft Beer Cellar in St. Louis, Missouri.

2. KeySmart Titanium 2.0

Jangling, unorganized keys getting your dad or significant other down? Never fear, the KeySmart Titanium 2.0 key-organizer-thingy is here!  It’s compact, it’s light, and it perfectly organizes up to eight keys into one little pocket-friendly bundle.   And that’s what makes it the perfect piece of guy gear.  ‘Nuff said.

1. Horizon Smokers 16″ Classic Smoker

1/4-inch thick steel.  I’ll write it again: 1/4-inch thick steel.  Many smokers on the market are comprised of a steel that is more akin to sheet metail.  Not this guy – he’s made from structural steel pipe.  And that thick steel is the key to control and consistency, whether one is smoking, barbequing, or grilling.  Why?  Because the thicker the steel the lower the heat conductivity, meaning less heat is lost.  And that mean the internal temperature is held at a more consistent level throughout the cooking process.   All in all, it’s just easier to get great results because food is cooked more evenly and consistently.  And finally, last bonus of thicker steel – it won’t rust out.  Now, great BBQ is at your loved one’s fingertips from here to eternity with this smokin’ mamma jamma.
