Nothin’ says football better than a good queso dip. Better yet, nothing says Super Bowl better than chorizo plus queso dip!
This dip combines yummy Farmer Girl Meats chorizo sausage with traditional queso ingredients to create a unique twist on the traditional queso dip. While the super bowl is a great excuse to scream at your television for those sweet, sweet points, it’s an even better excuse to scream at each other about the good meat you’re eating.
Maybe this year we can get folks talking more about good meat than the game, or better yet, the commercials. Oh, and disclaimer: We ran kicking and screaming from using Velveeta Queso cheese in this recipe?..but it just tasted so darn good we went with it. After all, it is the Super Bowl, right? Here’s the recipe in just four steps:
Farmer Girl’s Super Bowl Recipe: Chorizo Queso Dip
Serving Size: 8 servings
Cooking: Easy
Prep Time: 5 min.
Cook Time: 10 min.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of Farmer Girl Chorizo Sausage
- 1 pound Velveeta Queso Blanco
- ½ cup milk (more if you want it thinner)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 (4oz) can of green chilies
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of garlic salt
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (to taste)
Directions
1.) Brown the chorizo sausage while cutting your cheese into small cubes. Make sure to drain the sausage once it’s browned. Then set the sausage aside on some napkins to soak up more of the grease.
2.) Combine cubed cheese, milk, and butter into sauce pan and heat over lowheat, stirring constantly to avoid cheese from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
3.) Once the cheese and milk have combined, stir in the chorizo, green chilies, cumin, garlic salt, and cayenne pepper.
4.) Serve immediately with tortilla chips or use a small crock pot to keep warm.
There you have it! I hope you enjoy this Farmer Girl’s Super Bowl Chorizo Queso Dip Recipe!
